Intermediate Geotechnical Engineer

Our head office is looking for an innovative, results-oriented, self-starter to join our team. Candidates need to be creative thinkers, have high standards regarding quality of work, be eligible for a professional engineer designation in USA, and have seven or more years of experience in the consulting geotechnical industry.

Responsibilities
  • Scoping projects and preparation of cost estimates and proposals for a variety of clients and sectors;
  • Conducting geotechnical engineering analyses;
  • Coordinating and carrying out subsurface investigations, including test hole logging and sampling of soil and rock;
  • Preparation of geotechnical reports, complete with pertinent recommendations;
  • Coordinating and carrying out field inspection of construction works;
  • Managing project schedules and budgets;
  • Supervising the work of technicians and junior engineers, and providing technical direction;
  • Mentoring and development of junior staff; and,
  • Progressive interaction with clients.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Geological Engineering;
  • Minimum 7 years of geotechnical engineering experience, with preference given to USA experience;
  • Class 5 Drivers license;
  • Comfortable driving full-sized pickup trucks in urban, rural, and construction environments;
  • Comfortable working in a variety of environments, including local and remote construction sites;
  • Proficiency with spoken and written English language is required; and,
  • Eligible for registration as a P.Eng. with EGBC.
Desirable Skills
  • Graduate degree in Geotechnical Engineering or related discipline;
  • Geohazard assessment experience;
  • Geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring experience;
  • Dam safety experience;
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills;
  • Strong analytical and project management skills; and,
  • Ability to work independently and cooperate with a team in various environments.
